Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an Estates Project Officer to support building improvements across a healthcare estate in Cardiff. This hands-on role involves managing small to medium projects, updating drawings, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The ideal candidate has significant experience in estates or construction, particularly in public sector environments. This position offers a mix of office and site work, contributing to essential building projects.

Qualifications

  • Significant practical experience in commercial estates or construction environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering small works projects.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish.
  • Familiarity with NEC and JCT forms of contract.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
  • Support day-to-day project tasks alongside the design and estates teams.
  • Keep drawings and building information updated and organised.
  • Ensure designs and works follow required standards and guidance.
  • Work with mechanical, electrical, IT, telecoms, and fire colleagues.
  • Provide information needed for CDM and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Carry out basic building surveys and condition checks.
  • Support cost checks, paperwork, and coordination with contractors.
  • Assist with planning for small works and general project support.
  • Help with emergency or contingency planning when needed.

Skills

Ability to interpret and understand design drawings
Working knowledge of building regulations and standards
Strong project management skills
Good IT skills, including design and document systems
Confident chairing and controlling meetings
Strong interpersonal skills

Education

HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an estates or construction-related discipline

About the Role

This is a practical, hands-on role supporting building improvements across a large healthcare estate in Cardiff. You will work on small to medium building and refurbishment projects, update drawings, help prepare designs, and support the team to make sure work is delivered safely, on time, and to the right standards. The role includes a mix of office work and time on site.

What You'll Be Doing
