About The Role

Opening doors so others can open minds - Join us as Estates Assistant

EKC Broadstairs College is looking for two proactive, reliable Estates Assistant to join the team at our brand-new Margate High Street site, Margate Digital. If you enjoy hands‑on work and keeping facilities safe, welcoming and running smoothly, this role could be the perfect fit.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as a responsible key holder, unlock or lock buildings, depending on the work pattern, ensuring the site is safe and secure, and take part in the on‑call rota to keep the campus running smoothly.
  • Be responsible for setting and un‑setting the intruder alarm as well as undertaking regular fire alarm and emergency lights checks throughout the building.
  • Undertake timely checking of core infrastructure and equipment.
  • Support a wide range of caretaking and general Estates duties, minor repairs and maintenance, delivery and portering duties, and support staff on site.
  • Support external contractors throughout the year to ensure the building and its equipment are maintained in accordance with all legislation.

Hours per week: 18.5
Salary: £12,405

What We’re Looking For
  • A friendly, flexible approach to tasks and shift patterns
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to keep things running smoothly
  • Experience in monitoring, testing and accurate record keeping of Fire Alarm & Emergency Lighting system and a working knowledge of Legionella within a working environment
  • A genuine interest in sharing your knowledge and supporting the next generation
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude; experience is helpful, but passion really counts
  • You’ll need to live within 20 minutes of the campus
