The role will also involve developing environmental strategies and engaging with councillors, stakeholders, and the public to drive forward sustainable initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of three environmental protection officers.
  • Oversee statutory functions and ensure compliance across pollution control, noise, air quality, contaminated land, and statutory nuisances.
  • Develop environmental strategies and contribute to council-wide environmental objectives.
  • Engage with councillors, stakeholders and the public to drive forward sustainable initiatives.
  • Provide professional advice at a senior level and lead investigations as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in environmental protection within a Local Authority setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and enforcement.
  • Experience managing staff and delivering projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Contract/Offer

Interim contract in Nottinghamshire at £400–£450 per day (inside IR35), with flexibility of 3–5 days per week on offer. This is a leadership role to shape the delivery of environmental protection services while managing a dedicated and professional team.
