Job summary

A major civil engineering contractor is looking for an Environmental Advisor in East London. The ideal candidate will oversee environmental protection measures on rail projects and must have relevant H&S qualifications such as NEBOSH, along with experience in a UK rail environment. This is a permanent position with a salary range of £35k - £40k.

Qualifications

Environmental Advisor

Salary: £35k - £40k
Location: East London

A major civil engineering contractor is seeking an Environmental Advisor to work on a heavy civil/rail framework-based project in London on a permanent basis on this multi-million-pound project.

The project involves working on the following rail projects:

  • Depots
  • Station refurbishments/upgrades
  • Structures
  • Bridges
  • Rail Electrification

Key Duties include:

  • To actively engage in the inspection and establishment of environmental protection measures.
  • To ensure that information, training, and instruction, and task-specific advice on environmental management meet the needs of employees and those working on our behalf.
  • To ensure that the EMS and associated supporting information incorporate construction processes.
  • To ensure that the requirements of the EMS are being applied on operational projects and associated activities.
  • To monitor operational compliance to the EMS, and the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004, ensuring implementation of effective improvement/preventive measures.
  • The reporting of environmental-related performance information, including but not restricted to audits, non-conformances, incidents.
  • The effective use of Workspace functionalities in their relation to operational records.
  • To ensure that environmental aspects of pre-qualification questionnaires and tenders are in accordance with the EMS.

Essential Criteria to be eligible for this role

  • Relevant H&S Qualifications such as a NEBOSH Certificate or Equivalent
  • Ideally Degree/HNC/HND Qualified in Civil Engineering or a Similar Subject
  • Previous Experience in a Rail Environment in the UK Essential
