Job description
Environment Advisor

Salary: Competitive, dependent upon experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Eastcroft EFW, NG2 3JH

You will be responsible for managing environmental compliance at Eastcroft and Lincoln Energy from Waste facilities, advising the Site Manager and employees on all environmental matters, including energy performance and ensuring the facilities comply with their statutory obligations, environmental permits, ISO certifications, and other consents. You will support Operations staff, the wider Environment Team, and FCC company objectives, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement in environmental management. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Advise on all environmental matters and ensure compliance with statutory obligations
  • Keep up to date with environmental legislation and ensure implementation within the organisation
  • Conduct environment inspections/audits and prepare reports
  • Investigate and report on environmental incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
  • Support compliance with ISO standards and written management systems
  • Liaise with environmental regulators and attend relevant meetingsProvide guidance, training, and mentoring to site operations employees
  • Champion ESG, Sustainable Development, and Net Zero initiatives
  • Project manage consultants and contractors on environmental projects
  • Regularly review environmental data and trends to identify improvements
What are we looking for?
  • Degree educated, ideally in a scientific or mathematical discipline
  • Proven track record in technical management, ideally in an environmental role with regulatory compliance as a key objective
  • Expertise in developing and implementing departmental strategies for operational and compliance improvements
  • Strong project delivery skills within a demanding commercial environment
  • Highly credible leader with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to change, and influence at the highest level
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Performance-driven, resilient, and able to manage third parties effectively
  • Strong scientific and technical knowledge
