SEN English Teacher - Alternative Provision (Solihull)

Start Date: January 2026
Full Time Long-Term Role

Academics are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN English Teacher to join our Alternative Provision based in Solihull. This is a full-time position starting January 2026, working with students who present Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and may have experienced challenges in mainstream education. Your role will be to re-engage learners in English, build their confidence and help them achieve meaningful academic and personal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated English lessons for KS3-KS4 learners with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and support their emotional regulation.
  • Develop individual learning plans and adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of needs and abilities.
  • Work closely with the wider pastoral and therapeutic team to support holistic student development.
  • Contribute to behaviour support strategies and promote a safe, structured learning environment.
  • Track progress and provide regular feedback to pupils, parents/carers, and senior staff.
About You
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) essential.
  • Proven experience teaching students with SEMH needs - in an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN school or similar setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, resilience and a calm, consistent approach.
  • Ability to create engaging, literacy-focused lessons that inspire reluctant learners.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.
