KS3 English Lead / Second in English

Location: Lewisham, South East London

Start: ASAP

Contract: Permanent | Full-time

We are working on behalf of a forward-thinking secondary school in Lewisham to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated English teacher to support the leadership of the English Department.

This role is ideal for an ambitious teacher who is ready to take the next step in their career and lead KS3 English across the department, driving high standards of teaching, learning and outcomes.

The school is committed to developing future leaders and offers excellent CPD and leadership opportunities, supported by strong networks and structured professional development.

The Role
  • Lead and develop the teaching of KS3 English
  • Support the English leadership team in raising standards and outcomes
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality of teaching across the department
  • Model outstanding classroom practice and support colleagues through coaching and feedback
The Successful Candidate Will
  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree
  • Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and strong behaviour management
  • Have experience of lesson observation and providing robust feedback
  • Show evidence of improvement planning and successful strategies to raise attainment
  • Have a proven track record of strong outcomes at KS3 and KS4
  • Ideally have experience teaching KS5
  • Be committed to improving teaching, learning and curriculum quality
