Overview

TXM Recruit are supporting a rail business to recruit several Engineering Technicians. You will support the maintenance of a fleet of rail vehicles, carrying out both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and servicing of rolling stock to a high standard and in line with engineering best practices.
  • Work in accordance with technical, operational, and environmental procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and maintenance schedules.
  • Follow Fleet Standards documentation, including Depot Maintenance Schedules, Technical Instructions, Job Cards, and other issued materials.
  • Support productivity and efficiency initiatives within the maintenance team as directed by the Duty Fleet Manager or their delegate.
  • Comply with all safe working practices, depot protection measures, and company health & safety requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of depot housekeeping and contribute to a positive safety culture.
  • Adhere to instructions and guidance from supervisors and managers.
  • Follow industry rules and regulations, including Network Rail standards where applicable.
  • Undertake diagnostic reviews and update electronic documentation as required.
  • Perform additional duties as required by management.
Essential Criteria
  • ONC (or higher) qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical layouts.
  • Skilled in systematic fault finding and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Able to reliably travel to and from work outside of standard public transport hours.
  • Willing and able to work a rotating shift pattern (early, late, nights, weekends).
  • Commitment to maintaining high company standards.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience with Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience working in a Traction & Rolling Stock (T&RS) depot environment.
  • Familiarity with T&RS fleet maintenance operations.
