Job description

About the role

As an Engineering Technician within the Test & Validation department, you will bring hands‑on expertise to set up, operate, and maintain a diverse array of rigs and test equipment across the vehicle and powertrain platform. You will work closely with Test Engineers, Technicians, and Apprentices, providing guidance, support, and ensuring compliance with department and company standards.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate test rigs, including HiL transmission, VTT dyno, brake dyno, eight‑post rig, fuel, cooling, and structural test rigs.
  • Configure and calibrate control software, data acquisition systems, instruments, and actuators prior to testing.
  • Execute tests on a wide range of car components and assemblies, collecting and analysing data to ensure test objectives are met.
  • Write and follow standard operating procedures, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with Test Engineering‑defined data analysis and reporting standards.
  • Maintain high standards of department presentation, adhering to brand rules and quality standards.
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for both departmental and personal performance.
Requirements
  • Extensive practical knowledge and understanding of vehicle and/or power‑train systems and testing; experience in assembly, operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Familiarity with specialist technical skills, tools, and methods used in preparing vehicle components and sub‑systems for testing.
  • High level of competence in operating test rigs and facilities, interpreting test data, and ensuring test objectives are achieved.
  • Extensive experience in an R&D environment supporting vehicle or power‑train testing and validation, ideally within Formula One.
  • Experience operating complex test facilities, interpreting data, and fault finding.
  • Relevant technical qualifications to Level 5, or Level 3 with strong evidence of vocational development equivalent to Level 5.
  • Proficiency with hardware and software such as Instron, Servotest, Cats3, MATLAB, HBM, Catman, Atlas, Mistras AE, GOM Aramis, NX, Team Centre, VBA, and Wilshni NI.
  • Active enhanced security clearance (West).
Compensation

Competitive salary, DOE – plus a 6% bonus, 25 days holiday, and a clearance bonus.
