Job description

This role provides a valuable and technically challenging opportunity to work in a modern defence manufacturing environment, providing essential and decisive military capability to our UK customer and their allies.

Salary

Circa £50,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working

4 days per week on-site due to workload classification

The Opportunity

This opportunity is for an Engineering Team Lead to join the Calibration & Maintenance department at Stevenage, which is part of the Manufacturing functional organisation. The Calibration & Maintenance Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for day-to-day planning and completion of STTE (special to type test equipment) calibrations. Knowledge of calibration requirements, calibration controls & equipment capabilities is critical, as well as the ability to work in cross functional teams, reporting to external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Manage routine calibrations of electrical STTE & COTS and report back to key stakeholders (MOMs & TLs)
  • Responsible for KPIs such as start on time, schedule adherence and lead time for all routine calibrations.
  • Manage day to day deliverables of both engineers & operators within the team - routine calibrations, calibration failure / non-conformance, COTS workload & backlog.
  • Support team development - conducting performance and development reviews in accordance with MBDA PAD2 process.
  • Working with external suppliers to manage offload calibration activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum NVQ L3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Proven people manager experience.
  • Sound technical knowledge of test equipment (STTE & COTS), both theory and practical.
  • A strong understanding of calibration principles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading audits and managing compliance to relevant standards.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders and managing workload.
