Qualifications

Job description

Terumo Aortic are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead - Commercial, leading the team responsible for R&D work associated with the Day to Day development of existing commercially available Surgical and Hybrid Products.

Lead the team in maintenance, NCRs, CAPAs, complaints and Design Changes associated with the existing commercial products in the surgical and Hybrid portfolio, in collaboration with TVS, to identify, prioritise and execute the required R&D based workload related to the provision of the existing commercial product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of engineers and technicians in advanced design and prototyping of Class III medical devices.
  • Driving innovation through the Strategic Concept Filter (SCF) process in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Translating design inputs into new product concepts that meet performance, quality, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Working with surgeons, clinicians, and internal teams to define user needs and technical feasibility.
  • Overseeing the development of proof-of-concept prototypes and supporting IP generation activities.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Product Design Engineering or related field (MSc preferred).
  • Significant experience developing Class II/III medical devices, ideally vascular.
  • Proven experience in Design Thinking processes and concept development.
  • Hands‑on experience with prototyping and testing.
  • Knowledge of IP processes (patent searching, landscaping, NID filing) desirable.
  • Leadership skills with experience managing engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organisation skills.
  • CAD (SolidWorks) proficiency plus working knowledge of MS Office tools.
