Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an Engineering Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design input from concept to delivery on national infrastructure projects in the UK. You will ensure designs are buildable, compliant, innovative and efficient while collaborating with clients to meet programme goals.

The role focuses on oversight of design interfaces across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical disciplines, with a strong emphasis on BIM and sustainable engineering

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing design through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of integrated design delivery and managing consultant performance.
• Knowledge and experience of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
• Chartered Engineer (Preferred) status with CIBSE, IMechE or similar.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Manager to manage the agreed contract with external design consultants and contractors; ensure duties are discharged under the contract.
• Lead technical assurance, review constructability, and manage design interfaces.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams of engineers from consultants and partner companies.
• Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders and design coordinators.
• Liaise with clients, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Contractors and Consultants on project issues and scope changes.
• Drive development of innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions meeting requirements.
• Embed health, safety and environmental considerations into all engineering and design solutions.
• Ensure effective integration across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical functions.
