Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary engineering input on critical national infrastructure projects. You will partner with clients to ensure designs are buildable, compliant, innovative and efficient, from early concepts through delivery.

The role focuses on strategic thinking, collaboration and problem solving, with responsibility for interfacing with consultants, engineers and contractors, while embedding health and safety throughout the design

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing design through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of integrated design delivery and consultant performance.
• Knowledge and experience of BIM and common data environments.
• Degree qualified in engineering (Mechanical or Building Services).
• Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or Revit).
• Excellent communication with clients and staff.
• Self-driven and results oriented.
• People management, time management and project design management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design input on multi-disciplinary projects from concept through delivery.
• Manage external design consultants and contract interfaces.
• Oversee multi-disciplinary teams to produce design solutions.
• Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance and strategic stakeholders.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, contractors and consultants.
• Drive innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Embed health, safety and environmental considerations into designs.
• Ensure integration across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical functions.
• Ensure constructability, maintainability and reliability across asset lifecycle.
