DESCRIPTION

As an AI Engineering Team Lead, you will guide a high-impact team that builds and scales Nexar’s next generation of AI-powered products. You will bridge cutting-edge research with production engineering, ensuring that our systems seamlessly leverage generative AI, multimodal learning, and visual intelligence at scale.

You’ll play a critical leadership role — driving technical direction, enabling team excellence, and delivering robust, real-world solutions that make roads and cities safer and smarter.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical & Team Leadership:

    • Lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on developing production-grade AI and computer vision systems.
    • Translate high-level research advancements into scalable, maintainable engineering solutions used across Nexar’s products.
    • Own the technical roadmap, architecture decisions, and execution of complex engineering projects.
    • Ensure engineering best practices across code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Partner closely with research, product, and data teams to align engineering priorities with customer needs and long-term company strategy.
    • Drive integration of novel AI models into production workflows, ensuring reliability, scalability, and robustness.
  • Coaching & Mentorship:

    • Mentor engineers of varying seniority, fostering professional growth and a culture of ownership, innovation, and excellence.
    • Encourage knowledge sharing, technical learning, and effective problem-solving within the team.
  • Strategic & Organisational Impact:

    • Represent the engineering team in cross-company technical discussions and planning sessions.
    • Contribute to long-term technical strategy, leveraging Nexar’s large-scale data ecosystem to deliver transformative mobility intelligence.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical skills & qualifications
  • Master or PhD in Computer Science or AI related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience building and deploying production-grade software systems, ideally in AI, computer vision, or large-scale data processing.
  • 5+ years experience working on Robotics, ADAS or Autonomous Driving.
  • Up to date experience and understanding of state of the art Physical AI models and approaches. VLMs, World Models and Reinforcement Learning are of particular interest.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading engineering projects or teams.

  • Empathetic leader who fosters an environment of trust, collaboration, and high performance.
