Your mission
This is a first-class opportunity to join Sungrow Power EMEA as a principal engineer, specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join our ESS technical team based in the United Kingdom. As a principal engineer, you will focus on technical design and customized ESS solution proposals to support the delivery of energy storage projects, mainly BESS, and take a leading role in supporting Sungrow's ESS market development in Europe. You will also support solar PV, wind, and other renewable energy projects for the group.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and performing high-quality technical advisory work for pre-sales activities
- Project management and interfacing between engineering disciplines (electric, mechanical, civil, control schemes)
- Providing technical input from initial assessment through to feasibility studies and integration with other plants
- Reviewing project designs and suggesting improvements for ESS projects
- Preparing and managing specifications, tendering, negotiation, and selection of battery storage systems
- Conducting due diligence and supporting clients and lenders through the financial close process, including technical liaison with legal and financial advisors
- Knowledge of renewable generation utility network connection studies and PCS dynamic performance approval processes is advantageous
- Establishing ESS technical specifications according to European regulations and international standards (IEC/IEEE)
Your profile
Let's see if this challenge suits you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferably electrical)
- Experience with BESS technology, ideally with UK and European projects
- Deep knowledge of BESS technologies, including emerging trends and international markets
- Experience in technical advisory for investors and project developers, with BESS plant design support
- Development and delivery experience in international solar PV or hybrid projects
- Proven ability to communicate technical reviews effectively with clients and project stakeholders (utilities, EPC, etc.)
- English language proficiency at C1 level or higher; additional languages are a plus
