Overview

We are offering you the opportunity to support the expansion at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and become part of our high performing team at the Endoscope and Reprocessing Units based at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and with Leigh Infirmary. This position will cover both sites (Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and Leigh Infirmary). NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

We have 3x vacancies at 25 hours per week, working between 8am–6pm Monday to Friday (weekends on a rotational basis) across both sites including an On-Call rota.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the provision of specialised decontamination of flexible endoscopes contributing to the clinical care of our patients.
  • Receive, disassemble, manually clean, reassemble and reprocess reusable flexible endoscopes.
  • Work in accordance with the Department’s Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Management Systems & JAG Standards.
  • Plan your own workload with limited supervision.
  • Deal with exposure to body fluids as part of the role.
  • Reprocess reusable flexible endoscopes, manually wash, disinfect, reprocess, check, dispatch to user and track in a controlled environment.
  • Operate decontamination equipment and carry out routine tests daily/weekly in line with maintenance schedules and quality standards.
  • Undertake duties consistent with the responsibility of the grade and needs of the service.
  • Document work production daily and maintain cleanliness of work areas, sinks, trolleys and other equipment in line with SOPs.
Requirements and Additional Information
  • On-Call rota participation is expected.
  • The technician will undergo training to equip them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to carry out the wide range of tasks within the Endoscope Reprocessing Unit, requiring numeracy, record keeping and attention to detail.
  • Candidate may be asked to show original certificates at interview.
