Job description

Main duties of the job
  • Ensure high standards of patient care at all times, challenging poor practice in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with senior members of the Divisional team to assure that standards set out in the relevant Nursing & Midwifery strategy and direction for the Trust are delivered at ward level.
  • Ensure local plans support all clinical quality external accreditation, e.g., Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards.
  • Ensure nursing practices comply with Trust procedural documents.
  • Provide highly visible and accessible professional leadership, demonstrating expert knowledge and standards of clinical practice.
  • Lead a defined service or group of named CNS / Endocrinology Specialist Practitioners, promoting interdisciplinary and collaborative working practices.
  • Lead teaching, supervision, and continuous assessment of all learners, delegating as appropriate. Provide a quality learning environment for all staff, including medical staff and others.
  • Ensure attendance at mandatory study days and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor and supervise performance of all staff, identifying and actioning specific training needs, delegating as appropriate.
