Overview

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is a small Council with big values. To provide an emergency out of hours call out service to individual residents when alerted by the Council’s Control Centre. (Out of hours)

Location: Various Independent Living Schemes

Hours: On-call between 17:00 and 08:00 (Monday to Friday), and 24-hour cover on weekends and Bank Holidays

Salary: Standby allowance based on hours worked. Salary up to £3,166.91 pro rata

Contract Type: Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable people to live independently and safely in their own homes? We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and proactive individuals to join our Out of Hours Emergency Response Team.

Responsibilities
  • Be on-call during evenings, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays to respond to emergency alerts from the Lifeline Control Room.
  • Attend residents’ homes to provide urgent support, including welfare checks, emergency assistance, and liaising with emergency services.
  • Reset or replace faulty equipment and ensure residents’ safety and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records of all calls, actions taken, and incidents in line with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure properties and residents’ belongings are secure after attending.
  • Work closely with the Independent Living Team to ensure seamless, high-quality service delivery.
  • Maintain open communication with the Lifeline Control Room throughout your shift.
Essential skills and experience
  • Calm under pressure and able to respond quickly and professionally in emergency situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
