Overview

Are you an experienced electrician who is looking to take the next step in your career within the water industry? Joining a friendly and supportive team, you\'ll help look after our sewage treatment works, maintaining the highest standards for customers.

What you\'ll do

This is a really exciting challenge for an Electrical Technician to be a part of a high-performing and dedicated Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation (EM&I) team to cover our sewage treatment sites across the Yeovil and Taunton area. As the Electrical Technician, you\'ll:

  • carry out pre-planned and reactive maintenance work, including some small installation projects on our water recycling centres.
  • take responsibility for ensuring the effective operation of plant, machinery, and equipment
  • carry out fault finding, fault diagnosis, and fault resolution
  • deploy excellent decision-making to confidently make continuous improvements across the area.

In this position, you will be required to have a can-do attitude and a flexible approach to work. You will be working with a wide variety of products and equipment. While performing in your role, you will have ongoing opportunities to develop your skill set and knowledge, which can include formal and in-house training, which could lead to progressing into field support and PLC programming. You will be able to work flexibly and effectively with minimal supervision. You will also be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby rota covering the larger patch, including Bridgwater and Weston Super Mare areas.

What you\'ll need
  • A time-served Electrical Technician with competence in three-phase and single-phase power and control systems.
  • Hold City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or a time-served Electrical Apprenticeship. Formal mechanical training (dual-skilled) is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent health and safety awareness and IT literacy.
  • Valid UK driving licence, as there will be regular travel around various sites within our region.
  • This is a Monday to Friday role, but standby cover will be required for evenings and weekends on a rota basis, which includes an availability payment of around £1,950 per year, plus a performance bonus of up to 5% of your salary and overtime available.
  • A company van and all the tools and training you will need to complete your role will be provided.
