  • Perform electrical maintenance on plant equipment, including motors and control panels.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling PPMs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform fault finding and rectification on Distributed Control Systems.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician or Engineer to join our well-established tissue paper manufacturing facility. This role is critical in implementing condition-based maintenance programs, maximising the reliability and efficiency of our machinery and processes.

The essence of this role is electrical maintenance and fault finding, to basic mechanical PPM, CIL, troubleshooting.

The shift pattern is 4 on 4 off (7 repetitions), followed by an 18-day break. This consists of x2 days and x2 nights per rotation.

About the Role

What the day to day looks like:

You’ll be performing electrical maintenance on our plant equipment, including motors, drives, and control panels.

We’ll rely on your electrical and instrumentation expertise in fault finding and rectification on our Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

You will be planning, scheduling, and performing PPMs to minimise downtime, assisting with basic mechanical tasks such as replacing belts, bearings, seals, etc.

We have an onsite Mechanical team that will look after the major mechanical elements such as MIG/TIG welding, etc.

Requirements
  • Electrical qualification (HNC/NVQ Level 3+ or equivalent) with strong instrumentation knowledge (preferably apprenticeship time served)
  • Experience interrogating PLCs for fault finding, and basic condition monitoring.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with AC & DC variable speed drives
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with mechanical repairs occasionally.
  • Problem solving skills, remaining conducive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety standards and safe working practices
