A leading company within the transport infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation Engineer / Technician to join their expanding rail systems team. This position involves hands-on work primarily at the Heathrow site but may require travel across the Greater London area. Ideal candidates will possess relevant qualifications and experience in electrical installation within rail environments, ensuring safety and operational standards are met, including work during night shifts.

Qualifications

  • UK driving licence required.

Job description

At Firstco, we consult, design, build and support a range of control & communication systems within transport and other critical national infrastructure industries.

Due to growing project demand, we are now looking for an experienced Electrical Installation Engineer / Technician to join our expanding rail systems team.

This role will primarily be site-based at our Heathrow site, but you may be required to work in other locations around the Greater London area from time to time.

Rail Electrical Installation Engineers at Firstco undertake electrical works across live rail station environments including stations, tunnels, and associated assets.

You will be involved in the installation, modification and maintenance of Station Security and Information Systems (SIS), including but not limited to:

  • PLC Control Panels
  • CCTV
  • Public Address & Voice Alarm (PAVA)
  • Customer Information Systems (CIS)
  • Electrical distribution and control panels
  • Station power and communications infrastructure

Due to the nature of railway projects, some works will be required during night shifts to meet operational and safety constraints.

Specific roles and responsibilities are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications, Experience and Education Requirements – Including but not limited to:

  • Time-served electrical engineer or technician with relevant NVQ/SVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications
  • Qualified to the latest edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671 – 18th Edition or later)
  • Demonstrable experience of electrical installation and maintenance in UK rail environments
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety) and awareness of Rail standards
  • Able to demonstrate practical installation and fault-finding skills
  • Permitted to work and live in the UK without sponsorship
  • Qualified to obtain necessary passes to work air-side, track-side, in sub-surface rail locations, and in secure environments (licenses and training will be provided, but the applicant must meet eligibility criteria)
  • UK driving licence

  • Project support across installation, integration and testing/commissioning
  • Contribute to the safety and compliance of all works to industry standards
  • Night and weekend work as and when required

Non-Rail / Airport Work:

All Firstco staff are occasionally required to work on non-rail projects and undertake additional duties as reasonably requested. All employees are expected to comply with health, safety, quality, and relevant industry standards at all times.
