Electrical Estimator - Leeds

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Car Allowance + Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a well-established and growing electrical contracting business operating across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. This is a key position within the pre-construction team, responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders for projects ranging from small refurbishments to multi-million-pound developments.

You will play a pivotal role in securing high-value contracts and ensuring the profitability and success of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to the continued growth of a respected contractor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates for design-and-build and pre-designed projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to determine scope and requirements.
  • Carry out quantity take-offs and input data into estimating software.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and alternative installation methods.
  • Assess commercial and technical risks within tenders and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Attend client and design meetings throughout the tender process.
  • Maintain accurate records of quotations and follow up with clients when required.
  • Support smooth handover to project management teams post-award.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and labour rates.
About You
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within an M&E contracting or building services environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients, consultants, and colleagues.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management preferred).
