Electrical Contracts Engineer

Location: Site-based across Midlands & South of England
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
Package: Company van + fuel card, paid travel, accommodation & expenses, overtime available
Projects: Premier Inn Extensions (adding up to 3,500 rooms per site through kitchen-area reconfiguration)

Role Overview

An experienced Electrical Contracts Engineer / Site Manager is required to oversee electrical installation works on multiple Premier Inn extension projects across the Midlands and South of England. This is a site-based role, fully off the tools, ideal for a qualified electrician who has moved into supervisory, testing/inspection oversight, and coordination. The role involves managing daily site activity, ensuring compliance with technical and safety requirements, overseeing testing and inspections, and coordinating subcontractors to achieve project milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate electrical works across live extension sites.
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors, and daily activity to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Conduct oversight of testing, inspection and electrical certification in line with BS7671.
  • Ensure all installations follow drawings, specifications, and project standards.
  • Liaise with main contractors, hotel management teams, and other trades to maintain site workflow.
  • Review and enforce RAMS and health & safety procedures; deliver toolbox talks.
  • Track progress against programme, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor material deliveries, procurement requirements, and site resource needs.
  • Maintain accurate daily site records, progress reports, and test documentation.
  • Support commissioning, snagging, client walkthroughs, and handovers.
  • Travel between multiple sites with regular overnight stays (fully paid).
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Fully qualified Electrician with 18th Edition.
  • 2391 / 2394 / 2395 Testing & Inspection qualification (essential).
  • Previous experience as a Site Supervisor, Site Manager, Foreman, or Electrical Contracts Engineer.
  • Strong background in commercial or hotel electrical installations, ideally multi-room environments.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Solid understanding of CDM regulations and site safety protocols.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexible to travel frequently.
