Ideal candidates will have a degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services, relevant certifications, and experience with design software. The position offers a hybrid working model: 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Qualifications

  • HNC / HND / Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services.
  • BS7671 (18th edition) certification required.
  • Significant experience in designing solutions for industrial applications.
  • Competent in the use of Dialux and design software like Amtech and Revit.
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Input into detailing and specification of auxiliary systems.
  • Approve technical specifications for HV substation projects.
  • Evaluate supplier’s technical documents during the tender stage.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with technical standards.
  • Develop and review project programs with engineering planners.

Overview

Rubicon Consulting is recruiting for Electrical Building Services Design Engineer on a 6 Month basis in Manchester. You would be working 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities
  • Input into detailing and specification of the auxiliary systems to ensure they comply with contractual & legal requirements, customer specifications, industry standards and best practice, including: Fire Detection Systems; Small power, lighting and electrical sub-distribution; Security, CCTV and access systems
  • Review client supplied enquiry documents, specifications
  • Approve technical specification of the auxiliary systems pre and post contract award for HV substation projects in line with the relevant standards
  • Evaluation of supplier’s technical documents during tender stage
  • Review and approve supplier’s drawings and design documents during project delivery stage
  • Provide auxiliary system technical expertise to the engineering department
  • Undertake design reviews of subcontractor design packages and report on compliance with necessary technical standards
  • Work with the engineering planner to develop/review the project programme
  • Provide input to the design and project risk registers
  • Take ownership and accountability for the area of responsibility
  • Work with their counterpart MBS engineers to provide cross-disciplinary resources when required to ensure all projects are fully resourced
Requirements
  • HNC / HND / Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
  • BS7671 (18th edition) certification
  • Competent engineer with significant experience in designing solutions for industrial applications
  • Experience in designing in Dialux
  • Competent in the use of Amtech and /or Hevacomp
  • Fully conversant with the latest standards & technologies
  • Autocad / Revit competence
  • Beneficial but not mandatory– City & Guilds Qualifications in areas including (but not necessarily limited to) Electrical Installation, Inspection testing and Verification of electrical installations
  • Beneficial but not mandatory – understanding of contract awareness and an ability to formulate “Scope of Service” documents for the provision of professional services to be supplied by third party consultants
  • The post holder must be able to organise their own work to ensure all deadlines are met and responding in a timely manner to information requests from other areas of the business
  • Must be self motivated, able to work and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Good Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An approachable demeanour but the ability to be forthright if situations necessitate it
  • Ability to ensure tasks are completed on time
  • A willingness to undertake additional training to ensure skills set are kept upto date with the latest standards and practices
