Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a career-minded person to join our Mill Green (Hatfield) team as an Electrical and Mechanical Technician.

What you’ll be doing as an Electrical and Mechanical Technician
  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • Install, modify and commission new plant equipment; diagnose and repair faults in systems and plants.
  • Provide technical advice, keep up-to-date technical knowledge and support or train technical trainees if required.
  • Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps and associated control gear. Handle 3‑phase motors, starters, electronic control systems (VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, variable speed drives), chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
What you should bring to the role
  • A time‑served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • A problem solver able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or to escalated if required.
  • Excellent communication skills, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, able to adapt to the pressures of work and work in a constantly changing environment.
  • Independent, able to work with minimum supervision and under own initiative to design and meet standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
  • IT literate.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Base salary up to £45,000 per annum with standby and overtime opportunity; potential additional earnings £8,000–£10,000.
