A healthcare provider in the UK is seeking an ECT Manager to oversee a well-established ECT service. The role involves providing senior clinical support, ensuring compliance with ECTAS Standards, and leading clinical audits. The ideal candidate will have NMC registration, experience in acute mental health settings, and strong clinical reasoning skills. This position offers a salary range of £47,810 to £54,710 annually, pro rata.
To manage a well established ECT service, including providing senior clinical support and guidance to the ECT team and wider teams.You will also provide direct clinical care as the ECT Manager in line with ECTAS Standards, as well as identifying and taking the lead in developing clinical audit and research activity and ensuring effective process for clinical compliance checks are embedded within the clinical area.

Clinical and Quality Assurance
Provide senior clinical support and guidance to the ECT team and wider team. Provide direct clinical care as ECT service Manager in line with ECTAS Standards. Identify and take the lead in developing clinical audit and research activity, ensuring effective process for clinical compliance checks are embedded within the clinical area. Lead on delivering the clinical quality agenda as defined by the Trust. Imbed best practice through feedback from compliments, complaints and concerns. Promote a multidisciplinary approach in incident analysis, ensuring that clinical meetings are appropriately multi-disciplinary, and sharing wider learning as appropriate. To be aware of National Policy Guidance specifically related to emerging and established best practice in delivering an evidence-based service.

Ensure good communication systems are in place within the clinical area that support and enhance high quality care (IT, verbal, inter-personal, written). Support any change management process. Proactively manage conflict with a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the needs of people in our care are maintained and always treated as a priority, Facilitate and support the development of strategic thinking skills, promoting an umbrella view of clinical situations for the multi-disciplinary team. Ensure a learning the lessons culture by cultivating a reflective practice environment learning from untoward incidents and investigation.
Practice / Professional Development
Ensure participation in regular appraisal and identification of development needs. Ensure regular clinical and managerial supervision for self. Ensure regular opportunities to develop your own clinical / professional practice are optimised considering service needs and best practice evidence. Maintain a professional portfolio as evidence for revalidation. Develop and maintain effective networks locally and nationally to share and inform best practice.

Speciality Specific Requirements
Raise the profile of the acute mental health care speciality and ensure a clear understanding of the acute care pathway, and particularly the use of ECT as a valid treatment option. Demonstrate a clear awareness of the ECT care pathway and ensure this is adhered to and disseminated in a constructive and effective way to colleagues working both within and outside of the ECT Dept. Complete training relevant to the ECT role as per ECTAS Standards Ability to implement assessment and formulation skills to inform person centred care plans with the full involvement of people in our care. Development of clear nursing identity and roles within the multi-disciplinary team. Therapeutic intervention and engagement skills. Ability to carry out specialist assessments in line with professional frameworks and standards set for ECT. Understand the role of the Anaesthetist, ODP and Recovery Nurse partnership working. Membership of NALNECT and Regional SIG meeting. Ensure a high level of competence in assessment and management of clinical and physical health risk Ensure that the clinical environment is conducive to positive risk taking and that proportionate safeguards. Work in collaboration with Lead Consultant Psychiatrist and Lead Anaesthetist in ensuring safe administration of anaesthetic and ECT treatment. Ensure all staff receive training on the use of legal frameworks such as MHA and Mental capacity Act / Consent Ensure patients capacity is in line with the Consent and Legal Framework. To complete ECTAS ECT Foundation ECT course within a year of appointment to role and to ensure Competencies in ECT are maintained and up to date as per ECTAS Standards.
