Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc in Hereford is seeking a 2nd Line Support Engineer for the Hereford site. You will resolve incidents across IT services, support system administration, patching, and configuration, and work with customers and suppliers to ensure timely resolution.

This permanent full-time role requires at least 3 years in IT support, experience with Windows and/or Linux, networking fundamentals, ITSM tools, and a willingness to participate in outside hours rota. A DV clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience in IT Support/Infrastructure/2nd Line roles.
• Experience administering Windows and/or Linux environments.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, and firewalls.
• Experience patching and maintaining enterprise systems.
• Experience using ITSM/Service Desk tools in ITIL-aligned environments.
• Understanding of cloud computing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Resolve incidents and service requests across a broad range of IT services and technologies.
• Support system administration, maintenance, patching and configuration activities.
• Collaborate with customers, third‑party suppliers and internal support teams to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Implement technical changes in accordance with established change management processes.
• Produce accurate technical documentation, reports and operational procedures.
• Willingness to participate in outside hours rota.
