Driver/Labourer

• Payrate: £15.31 per hour
• Location: Kirklees
• Job Type: Full-time

Join our Repairs and Maintenance service team, providing first-class repair, maintenance, and refurbishment services to housing and public buildings in Kirklees. As a Driver/Labourer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our trade operatives by safely transporting them along with materials and equipment to various sites. This position requires a full valid driving licence and involves physically demanding tasks.

Day-to-day of the role

• Transport operatives, materials, and equipment to, from, and between sites.
• Assist operatives with various duties such as lifting, loading/unloading, footing ladders, mixing plaster, etc.
• Clear sites before and after work, ensuring they are left clean and tidy.
• Dispose of waste correctly following Council procedures.
• Collect items from stores and local suppliers.
• Erect tower scaffolding on site, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
• Maintain the vehicle in good mechanical order, carrying out daily maintenance checks and ensuring vehicle security.
• Drive safely and courteously, complying with all traffic regulations.
• Maintain good working relationships with tenants, the public, and Council officers.
• Keep the depot or site clean and tidy.
• Complete all relevant records accurately.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Full and valid driving licence.
• Practical labouring experience in a construction environment.
• Working knowledge of labouring duties within the building trade.
• Basic understanding of environmental issues in the building trade.
• Ability to carry out physically demanding work including bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights.
• Willingness to undertake PASMA training and CSCS certification.
• Ability to complete necessary paperwork and simple calculations.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
