The role As a Driver - Handler you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You'll be required to drive and operate a wide range of general and specialist vehicles, from Passenger Carrying Vehicles to Fuel Bowsers. You'll be responsible for making sure students, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time! As a handler you will also work on the busy flight line.

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:

  • Transporting Students between units and the local area using a range of vehicles
  • Carrying out detailed monthly checks of the vehicle fleet reporting all defects
  • Working on a busy flight line, carrying out see off’s, see ins and refuelling company owned aircraft
  • PPE will be provided and must be worn as a matter of company policy

This role is full time and based on site at MoD Boscombe Down, near Wiltshire. You’ll work an average of 40 hours a week on a shift basis, however you’ll need to be flexible as there may be changes to the roster from time to time, to meet customer needs.

Essential experience of the Driver - Handler:

  • Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
  • Sound knowledge of Driver’s Hours Regulations in accordance with EU Directive 561/2006
  • Computer Literate; basic IT skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with internal and external personnel at all levels, including senior stakeholders.
  • Must enjoy driving to various parts of the UK

Qualifications for the Driver - Handler:

  • Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) DVLA Licence Category D
  • Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) DVLA Licence Category C
  • Digital Tachograph Card

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS and CTC security clearance for this role.
