We are seeking a skilled and experienced Drainage Engineer to join our team. As a Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing drainage systems to ensure the effective and efficient management of water flow for a range of civil engineering projects. You will work closely with project managers, other engineers, and clients to deliver high-quality drainage solutions in compliance with relevant regulations and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Planning: Develop and design drainage systems for new and existing developments, including stormwater management, foul water drainage, and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
  • Site Assessment: Conduct site assessments to evaluate drainage requirements, identifying potential risks and recommending solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all drainage designs comply with local planning laws, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, surveyors, and other engineers to integrate drainage systems into larger projects.
  • Hydraulic Calculations: Perform hydraulic and hydrological modeling to determine the necessary flow rates, pipe sizes, and system layouts.
  • Construction Support: Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing contractor work, conducting site visits, and ensuring that installations are carried out to specification.
  • Maintenance Plans: Develop and implement maintenance plans for drainage systems to ensure longevity and performance.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, technical drawings, and drainage design calculations for client submissions and regulatory approvals.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve drainage issues, including blockages, leaks, and system inefficiencies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working as a Drainage Engineer, Drainage Consultant, or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of drainage design principles, stormwater management, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with drainage software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, or similar modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic modeling and stormwater management techniques.
  • Familiarity with the latest standards and regulations in drainage design and water management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 Per Annum Sector: Civil & Structural Engineering, Ecology and Environmental Contract Type: Permanent Town/City: Sheffield
