Care Assistant

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £13 per hour plus 25p a mile and travel time paid extra

Hours: Full-time, part-time, flexible

Summary Of Role

To share with other staff in meeting the personal care and support needs of customers in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence. The care and support provided by Care Assistants is expected to include support that would reasonably be given by members of the customer’s family and is not to include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Assist customers with getting up, dressing, washing, bathing and toilet use.
  • Help with mobility, disabilities, incontinence and use of personal aids.
  • Provide bed nursing and feeding for temporarily sick customers.
  • Provide care for customers who are terminally ill.
  • Promote mental and physical activities through talking, outings, reading, hobbies.
  • Make and change beds, light cleaning, empty commodes and general tidying.
  • Launder and mend customers’ clothes.
  • Set tables and trays, prepare and serve light meals, clearing and washing up.
  • Read and write reports and be involved in customers’ reviews and training activities.
  • Adhere to all Caremark’s policies and procedures.
  • Report changes in health or circumstances to the supervisor or manager.
  • Encourage independence wherever possible.
