Overview

The Domestic Energy Advisor will deliver tailored, face‑to‑face energy efficiency and retrofit advice to residents, including property surveys, technical guidance, and reassurance on upcoming measures. The role involves developing and monitoring engagement plans for the Switched On Portsmouth service, providing excellent customer service, and offering technical advice on systems such as insulation, heat pumps and solar PV in line with PAS2035/PAS2030 standards. Additional responsibilities include stakeholder collaboration, staff training, marketing coordination, handling queries and complaints, managing supplier contracts, and preparing reports for referral partners.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored face‑to‑face energy efficiency and retrofit advice to residents.
  • Conduct property surveys and provide technical guidance in compliance with PAS2035/PAS2030.
  • Develop and monitor engagement plans for the Switched On Portsmouth service.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, manage supplier contracts and prepare reports for referral partners.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including handling queries and complaints.
  • Train and support staff, coordinate marketing activities, and present training sessions to residents.
  • Produce clear, data‑driven reports for diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of energy efficiency principles, climate change technologies, and the domestic energy and retrofit sectors, including relevant legislation and PAS2035/PAS2030 standards.
  • Strong customer service experience, particularly with vulnerable customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads independently, develop partnerships, deliver presentations and training, and produce clear, data‑driven reports.
  • Proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to manage staff resources.
  • Experience working face‑to‑face with residents and effectively managing expectations.
Interview Information

Interviews will be held in person at the Civic Offices, Portsmouth between 26th January and 6th February 2026, and will last approximately 1.5 hours.
