A public sector organization in Harlow is seeking a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to deliver crisis intervention services. The ideal candidate will have an accredited qualification and significant experience in the field, working within a multi-disciplinary team to support victims of domestic abuse. This role involves liaising with various services to ensure safety and empowerment for clients, alongside maintaining thorough case records. Please note that this position is being offered as a Fixed Term Contract / Secondment with a planned duration of 24 months.
The Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) comprises of subject matter experts specialising in housing, domestic abuse, education, drug and alcohol support, youth work and mental health for adults and children.
MDT workers bring specialist knowledge and therapeutic insight. Their expertise is instrumental in re‑engaging families, restoring hope, and fostering sustainable change. This team's work is not only impactful – it's transformative.
Domestic Abuse Support Worker will focus on providing a proactive, short to medium term crisis intervention service through individual safety planning and personal support.
To work alongside Assessment & Intervention and Family Support & Protection Teams providing support to victims of Domestic Abuse. To undertake work with the victim to effect change and deliver a service to those at high risk by assisting them to access services to support and keep them and their children safe.
To work within a multi‑agency team which may include attendance at MARAC where appropriate, and link victims to community-based services in a timely way through building good relationships with partners and the voluntary sector.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
Candidates shortlisted for interview will be invited to attend a face‑to‑face interview at one of our Essex County Council offices, with interviews expected to take place around the week commencing 5th February 2026.
If successful, the anticipated start date for this role will be from April 2026.
