Fixed term / Secondment

Do you have experience caring for patients with infectious diseases? Are you able to ensure our patients receive a safe and timely discharge? If you are organised, able to think on your feet and get the job done, then we want to work with you.

We have an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join us on McEntee, an 18 bedded purpose built infectious diseases unit that specialises in the care of patients with transmissible diseases including the management of patients with HIV/AIDS, TB and imported infections such as Malaria. You will have the opportunity to keep your skills up to date by working clinically as workload allows.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and effective management of patient discharges.
  • Through a holistic approach to assessment of their individual needs and coordination and liaison with both Primary and Secondary multidisciplinary health care teams.
  • To ensure patient discharge care needs are assessed, planned implemented and evaluated using research evidence as appropriate.
  • To provide leadership to facilitate excellent nursing care that promotes rehabilitation, patient independence and therefore earlier discharge from hospital.
  • To ensure all nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with Trust policies taking appropriate action in emergency situations.
  • To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.
  • To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments
