A leading healthcare provider in Manchester is seeking a Director of Pharmacy to oversee pharmacy services, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with standards. This full-time, permanent position requires a Master's degree in Pharmacy, proven leadership experience, and strong communication skills. The role involves collaboration with clinical teams and continuous service improvement. The salary ranges from £109,179 to £125,637 per year, based on experience.
The Director of Pharmacy is a member of the Networked Services Divisional Management Team and is responsible for managing all aspects of pharmacy services, including pharmacy and medicines budgets. The role includes Executive Director responsibilities for the Board of the outsourced wholly‑owned subsidiary which provides medicines procurement and dispensing services, as well as being the organisation'sனர் Controlled Drugs Accountable Officer. The Director leads the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of pharmacy services at The Christie and across our comprehensive and growing network of outreach and peripheral satellites, working collaboratively with clinical, research and pharmacy leadership teams to ensure seamless delivery of pharmacy services and drive continuous service improvement.
• Be part of the country's busiest and one of Europe's leading cancer centres, supporting over 600 experimental medicine studies. • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams and contribute to cutting‑edge oncology and haematology services based in modern facilities. • Lead a highly‑motivated team of pharmacy staff delivering high‑performance outcomes. • The Trust is investing in digital infrastructure, a new Enterprise EPR system, research and aseptic production software, and an AI project to support SACT delivery.
To develop and maintain high‑quality clinical pharmacy services in line with best practice to ensure optimal use of medicines within the Trust; coordinate, manage and monitor performance of all outsourced and satellite services providing SACT and associated services to Christie Trust patients; monitor monthly drug expenditure; evaluate financial, contracting and infra‑structure implications; produce ad hoc reports for Director of Finance/commissions; assess R&D implications of clinical trials; ensure the således of a high oncology pharmacy profile through publications and national meetings; manage all operational and strategic aspects of the Pharmacy department; lead service development and planning; ensure quality management and compliance with external and internal standards; support clinical research programmes; provide leadership for research, audit and clinical research; plan and develop staff through appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary processes; manage pharmacy and medicines pay and non‑pay budgets; oversee service delivery and cost‑effective access to medicines across the Trust.
