Job description

We are delighted to be supporting a leading advisory firm in Manchester as they continue to build out their high‑performing Corporate Finance practice. The Corporate Finance Partner is now seeking their “number two”; a senior, hands‑on dealmaker who will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the firm’s transaction agenda.

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious corporate finance professional to step into a senior leadership role, take ownership of mid‑market transactions, and contribute meaningfully to the strategic growth of a thriving practice.

The Role

As Corporate Finance Director, you will work closely with the Corporate Finance Partner to lead, execute and originate mid‑market transactions across M&A, buy‑side, sell‑side and fundraising mandates. The role blends technical excellence, commercial judgement and relationship leadership, with significant exposure to both clients and the wider regional dealmaking community.

Deal Execution (Primary Focus)
  • Lead the day‑to‑day execution of live transactions, ensuring high‑quality, timely delivery across all workstreams.
  • Oversee financial modelling, valuation analysis and preparation of core deal materials.
  • Coordinate and challenge due diligence processes, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Prepare and refine information memoranda, teasers, process letters and other transaction documentation.
  • Support negotiations, providing insight, analysis and strategic guidance to clients.
  • Maintain firm control of project management, timelines and stakeholder communication.
Business Development & Market Engagement
  • Build and nurture relationships across the regional mid‑market, including business owners, private equity, banks and intermediaries.
  • Work alongside the Partner to originate new mandates and develop a sustainable deal pipeline.
  • Leverage market trends, sector developments and your network to identify new opportunities.
  • Represent the firm at events and forums to enhance visibility and strengthen its market presence.
Leadership & Team Contribution
  • Mentor and support associates, executives and trainees, acting as a senior reference point on technical work and deal processes.
  • Contribute to the development of internal best practices, operating standards and team‑wide initiatives.
  • Help shape strategic decisions around service offering, market positioning and team growth.
  • Promote a collaborative, high‑performance culture that reflects the values of the practice.
Essential Attributes
  • Strong background in corporate finance advisory, investment banking, boutique M&A or accountancy‑firm CF.
  • Proven experience executing mid‑market transactions with meaningful client exposure.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Commercial, analytical and pragmatic, with the confidence to advise clients and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to business development activity.
  • Highly organised, with a strong sense of ownership and delivery.
Qualifications
  • Financial Accreditation (CFA preferred but not essential) with strong transaction experience.
  • Degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or a related field is advantageous.
What’s on Offer
  • £65k–90k base salary, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
  • Performance‑related bonus linked to deal delivery and business development contribution.
  • The opportunity to work directly with an experienced Corporate Finance Partner on high‑quality engagements.
  • Clear progression prospects as the practice continues to expand.
  • A collaborative, supportive environment with autonomy and client exposure from day one.
