What will you be doing?

We’re seeking a talented Director to join our rapidly growing Accounting Advisory team in London. The individual will be responsible for delivering a wide range of technical accounting advice to our clients and a key contributor to the business development strategy and targets for the team.

This demanding role will allow exposure to a wide variety of clients, sectors and type of work, which will be highly rewarding to an individual who enjoys working on diverse projects and the personal dynamic of working as part of a small team.

This is a Fixed Term Contract role for an initial period of 12 months to be based at our London Wall office.

As a Director for Accounting Advisory, your responsibilities will include among others,

  • Providing an efficient, high quality, pro‑active and technically accurate client service and advice at all times in line with the group’s Risk framework, achieving a suitably commercial result for the firm and ensuring that the customer experience is a priority across your team
  • Monitor and manage chargeable hours, utilisation, recoveries, WIP, billing and lock up for you and your team, ensuring where possible lock up is kept to a minimum and clients are billed regularly
  • Identify and assist with the operational efficiencies and improvements as part of the wider departmental strategy
  • Assist your Head of Department with business development activities for your field of expertise, to promote and build the team’s reputation internally and externally through building and cultivating relationships with clients and potential clients of the firm, whilst identifying opportunities to cross‑sell internally
  • Act as an effective leader, ensuring high standards of technical and professional competence are maintained and developed for other members of the team and your direct reports.
  • Support the growth strategy for the team, acting as appraiser for direct reports and supporting recruitment efforts in line with budget

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have,

  • Up‑to‑date working knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and Company law
  • Extensive experience of providing technical accounting advice across a range of subject matters, including new accounting standards (IFRS 9, 15 16), acquisition accounting, group reorganisations, revenue recognition, share‑based payments, and financial instruments amongst others
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills – in preparing relevant reports, a high competency in these formats is vital to provide a robust and creative output
  • Demonstrable experience in business development, with a proven track record of winning new clients and developing commercial relationships
  • An ability to generate contacts within the industry and a willingness to develop such contacts
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with a relevant qualification (such as being a chartered accountant)
