Overview
As a DevOps Engineer for HM Land Registry, you will provide technical engineering capability for the Web Operations team, supporting production systems and working with Agile development teams to deliver new services in a highly available and supportable configuration using DevOps processes and tooling. You will engage with other DevOps Engineers and Senior DevOps Engineers, and coach/support Junior DevOps Engineers. The role may involve two positions in the Transformation & Technology team to support this work.
Responsibilities
- Take forward technical consolidation and/or improvement activities, providing guidance and leadership to technicians within the IT Operations Practice and across the organisation.
- Work across the DDaT to support and deliver solutions in line with the Technology and Business Strategies.
- Configure, administer and support infrastructure using a DevOps methodology across multiple cloud infrastructures, ensuring security, performance and supportability while following an agile approach to incremental delivery.
- Collaborate with Agile development teams to support the delivery of the platform and infrastructure for microservice applications as part of the digital transformation of internal and external services.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification in Information Technology or a related area (Degree level or equivalent) and/or experience in an IT field.
- Experience supporting Linux operating systems, containers and containerised workloads (e.g., orchestration services such as OpenShift and Kubernetes).
- Experience with at least one programming language (Ruby, Java, Python, JavaScript or Go).
- Knowledge and experience of DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration.
- Experience with version control (Git and GitLab CI) and configuration-as-code across cloud and on-premise environments using Terraform; familiar with working in an agile environment building, deploying, supporting and operating cloud applications (notably AWS).
Additional Information
- Hours: minimum 32 hours per week; travel and overnight stays may be required; occasional planned out-of-hours work and possible on-call rota participation.
