Job summary

A progressive educational institution is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead to embed a culture of safeguarding within the school. The role involves overseeing staff training, ensuring that students feel safe and supported, and acting as a liaison with external agencies. Ideal candidates will have a strong knowledge of child protection policies, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to safeguarding. Salary scale for this position is between £36,088.90 and £38,079.49 per annum for 37 hours a week, working 39 weeks per annum including 5 inset days.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

The Post will be paid on Salary Scale L, Points 26 - 28 which is an actual salary of £36,088.90 - £38,079.49 per annum based on 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum (Term time, plus 5 INSET Days)

Do you have the expertise and leadership skills to embed a culture of safeguarding across a school community? If so, we are looking for a DSL to join Aylesford School Warwick. As the DSL, you will be responsible for fostering a strong safeguarding culture where every student feels safe and supported. You will ensure that all staff are fully trained and understand their safeguarding responsibilities, while also ensuring students are educated on how to keep themselves safe.

In this role, you will lead on all aspects of safeguarding across the school, ensuring a proactive and embedded culture of child protection. You will oversee the training and development of staff, ensuring they fully understand their safeguarding responsibilities and are equipped to act accordingly.

Monitoring the application of safeguarding policies and procedures, you will intervene or adjust strategies as needed to ensure best practice. You will also work closely with the wider safeguarding and pastoral teams to ensure effective support for students, while shaping the curriculum to respond to the specific safeguarding needs of the school. Acting as the key point of contact for external agencies, parents, and carers, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and protection of all students.

We are seeking a safeguarding professional with extensive knowledge of child protection policies and procedures, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to train and develop staff in best safeguarding practices. You should have a proactive, child-centred approach and the ability to adapt policies to meet the contextual needs of the school, as well as experience in monitoring safeguarding concerns and acting decisively when necessary.
