Job description

Our client is a leading international retail interiors organisation that offers unique shop fitting solutions to retailers worldwide. With offices in over 20 countries and a strong history, they have established themselves as market leaders. They partner with some of the largest blue-chip clients across sectors such as Grocery, Home Improvements, Consumer Electronics, Fashion, Cafés, and Health & Beauty.

As a Design Engineer, you will transform creative briefs or concept sketches into fully engineered solutions. Your responsibilities include providing technical development, detailed specifications, and precise technical drawings. Projects primarily involve the design for manufacture of retail display equipment, such as shelving systems, retail furniture, and freestanding displays. You will work with materials like metal, timber, plastics, glass, or others suitable for purpose.

Job Role
  1. Use SolidWorks 3D CAD to produce technical part, assembly, and general arrangement (GA) drawings of new retail display equipment.
  2. Manage CAD files and the design workflow.
  3. Catalogue files according to operational requirements.
  4. Conduct function checks on prototypes, supplier samples, and first-offs.
  5. Perform value engineering on existing designs.
  6. Participate in structural load testing.
  7. Assess the structural integrity of suggested designs with the Development Manager.
  8. Support risk assessments, operation & maintenance manuals, and assembly/install guides, seeking guidance from the Development Manager as needed.
  9. Conduct site visits to assess retail display equipment in the field and perform physical surveys.
