About us

As a Design Engineer in NPI Home, you will work on the discovery and development of disruptive new product concepts, new to market features and technologies. Working in our world class research, design and development (RDD) department, you will have the opportunity to work alongside leading technical specialists and highly creative engineers to create industry leading and game-changing products.

About the role

• Ideate and develop innovative concepts to drive step change development across Dyson Home.
• Design and build functional prototype products suitable for testing, review and demonstration to senior level stakeholders.
• Actively understand consumer problems within Floorcare/Environmental Care and the broader Home spaces, using them to drive innovative solutions.
• Design and develop subsystems and features ensuring high-quality product concept performance.
• Collaborate with Research and Downstream teams to integrate technologies into the overall product design.
• Create technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, functional prototypes and design reports.
• Perform and review analysis on performance tests and develop efficient solutions to improve.
• Take an active, hands‑on role to ensure that all engineering problems are resolved thoroughly.
• Stay current with industry trends and changing technologies, applying new techniques to improve product designs.

About you

• A degree in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline or equivalent.
• A high degree of creativity and the ability to work well within small, focused teams.
• A creative and considered approach to problem‑solving, following clear design processes.
• A practical and methodical approach to design using an iterative development cycle of prototyping and testing.
• Experience working in a 3D CAD design environment.
• The ability to communicate your ideas to others within your team and across a business.
