We are looking for a dedicated and experienced deputy manager for Cwtsh y Clos Nursery, Llanarthne. As the nursery is a Welsh setting all candidates must be able to speak and write in the Welsh language.

Full time position 38 hours a week. Option to work over 4 or 5 days per week. Starting Date: 5th of January 2026.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and child development. This role offers an opportunity to work within a nurturing environment, contributing to the growth and well‑being of children while supporting our team. The Deputy Manager will play a vital part in ensuring high standards of care, safety, and educational excellence are maintained at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manager in overseeing the daily running of the nursery or childcare centre.
  • Support and supervise staff, ensuring they deliver high‑quality care and educational programmes.
  • Lead by example in implementing policies related to child safety, health, and wellbeing.
  • Organise activities that promote early childhood development in line with curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, carers, and team members regarding children's progress.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organisational policies.
  • Support staff recruitment, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Manage administrative tasks including record keeping, attendance logs and staff rotas.
  • Contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment that fosters learning and development for children aged from 7 weeks to preschool age.
Requirements
  • Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team of early childhood educators.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in nursery or early years environments.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Welsh, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years and Playwork or equivalent.
  • Experience with children’s developmental needs and activities that support their growth.
  • Valid driving licence for travelling between school or community engagements.
  • As the nursery is set on a small holding a love for the outdoors is key and knowledge of the importance of outdoor learning for children.
Additional Details

Salary: Wage between £26,000 and £30,000 per year. Salary: To be negotiated according to experience.

Hours: Full time, 38 hours per week, with option to work over 4 or 5 days. Working hours may vary between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM.

Qualifications required: Level 3 in Childcare and Playwork. Advantageous to have Level 5 or higher in childcare.
