Job Title : Deputy Manager
Salary : £25,000-£35,000 per annum (Based on Experience)
Reports to : Registered Manager
Working Hours : 40 hours per week (5 days over 7, as agreed with the manager)
Location : Blackburn, Lancashire, North West England
The Deputy Manager supports the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the care home, providing leadership to staff and ensuring high-quality, person-centred care. Key responsibilities include deputising for the manager in their absence, overseeing care planning, ensuring staff are trained and supervised, and maintaining operational standards.
Support the Registered Manager in leading all service functions, including care, administration, catering, housekeeping, maintenance, and staffing.
Deputise for the Registered Manager, implementing decisions and maintaining service standards.
Ensure all service users receive care centred on their individual needs, with accurate, up-to-date care plans.
Lead staff through supervision, appraisals, training, and development.
Manage duty rotas, ensuring the correct skill mix and staffing levels at all times.
Promote a positive, inclusive culture and effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, internal policies, and quality standards.
Conduct mock inspections, identify shortfalls, and implement improvement plans.
Seek opportunities for personal and professional development.
Driving Licence
Good written and verbal English.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar environment.
Experience in a supervisory or management role.
Proficient in record-keeping and reporting systems.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Positive, approachable, and flexible "can-do" attitude.
Knowledge of rota planning and staff skill mix management.
Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., NMC).
Supervisory or management qualification.
Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
Attend statutory and mandatory training as directed.
Maintain current skills and qualifications relevant to the deputy role.
Work within the relevant Code of Conduct.
Obtain management qualifications commensurate with the role, if required.
