Overview

As a Deputy Home Manager, you’ll be making sure the level of clinical care we offer goes beyond just professional standards and statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements. This means providing specialist nursing support and advice, taking responsibility for resident care in the Home Manager’s absence, and supervising/coaching colleagues to provide a service that’s unparalleled in its empathy for resident issues.

You’ll be safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and therefore it is important that you are able to recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in associated areas. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist nursing support and advice; ensure resident care in the Home Manager’s absence.
  • Supervise and coach colleagues to deliver high-quality, empathetic care aligned with resident needs.
  • Maintain and model person-centred care planning within a care home setting.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues, demonstrating kindness and consideration.
  • Monitor compliance with clinical standards, safeguarding practices, and relevant regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Valid NMC Pin and knowledge of National Standards and the NMC code of practice.
  • Background in person-centred care planning within a care home.
  • Strong mentoring ability, time management, and ability to maintain meaningful records.
  • Positive energy, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to respectful, compassionate care.
