Job description

We are seeking a Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) to support the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) with the extensive portfolio of executive responsibility of the CMO.

The post will be full time (6 PAs for DCMO management) with the remaining sessions available to make up to 10-12 PAs with clinical sessions and Core SPA., As a Deputy Chief Medical Officer, you will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Executive Team to ensure the delivery of safe, clinically effective, and high-quality clinical services. The Director level positions will provide support and strategic direction to the organisation, acting on behalf of the CMO. The DCMOs assist the CMO within the existing structure across a range of functions including quality and safety, clinical governance, and professional standards; this DCMO role will focus on the patient Safety portfolio.

The DCMO role will involve deputising for the CMO as required and advising the Executive Team and Trust Board on relevant matters, forming a key component of the clinical management leadership within the Trust, managing staff relevant to their function.

Additionally, you will provide clinical leadership and professional support to our Clinical Groups and providing clinical advice to the wider executive team.

The DCMOs will also provide support to the CMO in developing positive relationships with our key external partners for example GPs, commissioners and academic institutions. This role is also expected to further support and develop clinical leadership roles in the trust.
