A local education authority in Edinburgh is looking for a Depute Head Teacher to enhance leadership within the school. This role involves managing and leading school improvement and working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team. Candidates should possess relevant secondary sector experience, a commitment to personal development, and strong relationship-building skills. Salary: £76,035
Hours: 35 per week
Drummond Community High School is a fully comprehensive, non‑denominational secondary school based in Edinburgh city centre. Our pathways of support are designed to ensure that every young person develops their academic potential, talents, interests and abilities and we offer a wide range of opportunities across the curriculum from S1 to S6 to prepare learners for their future positive destination. Next year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the school.
The school is located very close to the centre of Edinburgh with excellent transport links via tram, bus and train to all areas of the city and surrounding areas.
This new additional Depute Head Teacher post provides opportunity within the school to build on the existing capacity of the Senior Leadership Team to lead and manage school improvement following inspection last academic session. The successful candidate will be one of three Depute Head Teachers in the school who assist and where necessary deputise for the Headteacher. The specific remit for the successful candidate will be confirmed pending review of the skills, knowledge and experience across the SLT; this may include limited teaching commitment.
Interviews will be held in January; candidates will be notified when the schools return from holiday.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
