Job title: Apprentice Software Engineer

Location: Rochester (Kent)

Salary: Starting from £26,000 with annual progression through the scheme duration

What you'll be doing:
  • You will be trained to be able to design, build and test high-quality software solutions.
  • You will learn to apply engineering principles to all stages of the software development process, from requirements, through analysis and design, development, implementation, integration and verification.
  • In parallel with the academic aspects of the scheme providing a foundation of knowledge, you will be assigned to projects where, you will be gaining the specific software engineering competence and skills applicable to the complex display and control systems designed and manufactured by BAE Systems, Electronic Systems at Rochester.
  • As you progress through the scheme, your work will become more challenging with greater responsibility, with the end goal of leaving the scheme as a qualified Software Engineer.

Export Control/Security:

Qualification requirements

5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4/A*-C which must include Maths & English & a Science/Technical Subject AND 1 of the following:

  • 3 A-levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above. 1 subject must be Maths and 1 subject must be in Engineering or a Science/Technical subject.
  • An equivalent level 3 vocational qualification (must be a STEM related subject that aligns to the scheme/area you are applying for and worth a minimum of 96 UCAS points).
