Job summary

A leading geotechnical services provider in the UK seeks an Assistant Geologist to join their Infrastructure Division. The successful candidate will help prepare Health & Safety documentation, assist in Ground Investigation projects, and perform soil and rock logging. This role requires a degree in geology or a related field, a full UK driving licence, and knowledge of ground investigation techniques. As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Assistant Geologist to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride. We are looking for a reliable, flexible and driven individual to join our Geotechnical team. As a member of Geotechnical, you will be exposed to a variety of unique projects throughout the country. It is key that you have the balance to be proactive and independent, while simultaneously being a strong team player. Good management skills, and a strong understanding with experience in the industry are vital in order to succeed in this role.

  • Help prepare Health & Safety documentation prior to and during the site works phase, as well as assisting with the managing the Health & Safety of operatives and promoting a safe working environment
  • Assisting with the planning, supervision and programming of Ground Investigation projects at locations throughout the United Kingdom
  • Logging of Soil and Rock in accordance with the specification and BS5930
  • Keeping accurate field records of tasks performed
  • Performing in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with the specification and current technical standards

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Confident and knowledgeable of ground investigation techniques
  • Carry out work in accordance with company health and safety rules
  • Have a minimum level of fitness required to undertake all site based tasks
  • Qualified to degree level
  • Full UK driving licence
