Job summary

A rapidly scaling specialist insurer is looking for a Home Data Scientist to shape the pricing strategy of its expanding Home Insurance business. In this high-impact role reporting to the Home General Manager, you will produce analyses aiding pricing decisions and product performance. We're seeking a candidate with personal lines pricing experience and a strong statistical background, ideally with exposure to machine learning methodologies as well as proficiency in Python and SQL. This position offers visibility and influence within a dynamic group structure.

Qualifications

  • Experience in personal lines pricing, ideally relevant to risk or demand.
  • Statistical skills to explain data patterns and drivers.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts for analysis.

A rapidly scaling specialist insurer is hiring a Home Data Scientist to help shape the pricing strategy of its growing Home Insurance business. This sits within a fast-moving group structure spanning Broker → MGA → Underwriter, providing a rare level of visibility, data access, and commercial influence.

The Role

Reporting to the Home General Manager, you’ll take ownership of analytical work that supports pricing decisions, commercial strategy, and product performance. This is a high-impact role suited to someone at Senior Analyst or Junior Manager level who wants broader responsibility, faster decision cycles, and direct line of sight to business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high-standard pricing & performance analyses with minimal review
  • Make proactive recommendations on rating action and product changes
  • Present insights concisely to senior stakeholders with commercial context
  • Balance technical rigour with trading conditions and speed to market
  • Work with MI + Data teams to improve BAU data visibility and reporting
  • Contribute to pricing structure development as the portfolio scales
What They’re Looking For
  • Personal lines pricing experience (Risk/Demand/Street preferred)
  • Home experienceNSA advantageous but not essential
  • Strong statistical understanding; able to explain patterns & drivers
  • Exposure to ML for analysis or production useful
