We are seeking a skilled Data Privacy Director to join The Sage Group plc and its subsidiaries. In this role, you will lead the data privacy centre of excellence for Sage, managing a global team, and be entrusted with leading the change on our data privacy initiatives and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.

A day in the life

As the Data Privacy Director, you’ll work closely with key business partners—spanning Data Ethics and Governance, Cyber Security, Product, Marketing, People, and IT—providing clear, strategic guidance at the intersection of law, technology, and business. Your expertise will help the organization navigate complex regulatory landscapes while staying aligned with Sage’s commercial ambitions.

  • Deliver practical, business‑focused legal counsel on privacy and data protection, enabling Sage to meet its legal obligations without losing momentum on its commercial goals.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to identify, assess, and reduce privacy and data protection risks, strengthening a culture of proactive compliance.
  • Apply your technical insight to track and interpret evolving legislation—especially in the field of artificial intelligence. Stay closely involved in Sage’s AI initiatives to ensure privacy and data protection risks are anticipated and effectively managed.

You’ll bring strong strategic insight paired with exceptional delivery skills, thriving in a dynamic and fast‑moving environment. Calm, confident, and highly autonomous, you excel at translating intricate legal and technical concepts into clear, accessible guidance for stakeholders. Your ability to prioritise effectively and lead teams through challenges will be essential. Experience within software or technology businesses is highly desirable.

We are seeking a UK‑qualified lawyer with a specialism in data protection law, with proven experience of leading a global team, and solid working knowledge of privacy requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
